New Rules For New Zealand Immigration 2022

Is New Zealand on your list of places you’d want to live? For those searching for a location to call home that offers stunning natural beauty, progressive politics, expanding industry, and a spectacular way of life, New Zealand has long been a popular choice. As a result, Auckland has a more diverse population than you would imagine, with around 40% of its residents hailing from outside of New Zealand.

For New Zealand, the pandemic has been an opportunity to demonstrate strong leadership and community-minded values on a global scale. Entry to New Zealand has become a task because of COVID-19, however, it is still possible under certain circumstances. The present state of the COVID and the options accessible to citizens from other countries who wish to visit New Zealand or get a temporary work visa are discussed.

New Zealand Borders Reopen

Starting in 2022, the administration expects a gradual reopening of the country’s borders. The risk profile of the country of origin (i.e., vaccination levels and effective pandemic control) and the applicant’s vaccination status will determine the entrance requirements and post-arrival quarantine.

In-Demand Skills in New Zealand

Depending on the abilities that are present in low supply, they might vary greatly. Healthcare (including in-home and elderly care), information technology, civil and residential building, and engineering are always in demand. You may use this INZ list checker to see whether your profession is on the Skill Shortage List.

A work visa may only be obtained by those who are not qualified for a work visa that grants open employment rights. Having a job is not a need to get residency in New Zealand, but the regulations there put a high emphasis on having one, which means that if you already have one, you are more likely to get residency and your application will be given higher priority.

Rules For Quarantine

Currently, everyone entering New Zealand from any nation must spend 14 days in a quarantine facility supervised by the government. For this purpose, the Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) programme has reserved hotel rooms specifically, and you will need to secure a reservation in an approved MIQ facility.

If you’re planning to visit New Zealand, you’ll need to pay NZ $5,520 for the first or only adult in the accommodation, plus $2,990 for each additional adult, and $1610 for any kid over the age of three. Although plans exist to allow people to isolate themselves at home, this won’t be implemented until at least the middle of 2022. A preliminary study of 150 persons is now taking place, although interest in participating has already been shown.

Vaccination Status

A complete round of vaccinations will be required for all visitors coming after November 1st, 2021. A government-approved COVID-19 vaccination should be provided at least 14 days before your arrival. COVID test results must be negative within 72 hours after travel.

Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) registration requires travellers to disclose their vaccination status and provide vaccination documentation (or an appropriate exemption) to airline and customs authorities upon arrival.
